Budget level

What a stay in Avignon costs

Avignon is one of the cheaper cities in France, except in July: during the theater festival accommodation is the most expensive of the year. According to KAYAK, hotels are cheapest in December. The accommodation prices in the calculator are our estimate.

Avignon has no major airport: you arrive by TGV or via Marseille airport. From the TGV station an Orizo bus takes you to the center for €1.40. The center inside the walls is walkable, and the free Baladine minibus runs around the old town.

A ticket to the Palais des Papes costs €16, and the combined ticket with the Pont Saint-Bénézet €19.50. The Avignon City Pass is €24 for 24 hours or €32 for 48 hours. Five city museums, including the Petit Palais and the Musée Calvet, are free all year.

How we estimate

These amounts are estimates built from publicly available prices: average accommodation prices for the month and typical daily spending on food, public transport and attractions. For months where we found no data, we filled in our own estimate. Actual prices depend on your dates and where you stay.

For children up to 12 we assume 60% of an adult's food cost and 50% of an adult's attractions cost. At budget and standard level we price families with children an apartment or family room for up to four people; at luxury level one room takes two adults and one child. These are our assumptions. The luxury level has no upper limit, so we show a “from” amount.
