What a stay in Bangkok costs
Bangkok is inexpensive compared with Europe or the US: according to KAYAK, a room averages about THB 1,780 a night in a four-star hotel and about THB 3,060 in a five-star. June, in the rainy season, is the cheapest month and March the most expensive.
The BTS Skytrain and MRT subway cost THB 17 to 65 a ride, depending on distance. From Suvarnabhumi airport, the Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai costs THB 45; taxis run on the meter, plus a THB 50 airport surcharge and expressway tolls.
The biggest attraction costs are the Grand Palace with the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (THB 500) and Wat Pho with the Reclining Buddha (THB 300). Shoulders and knees must be covered in the temples.
How we estimate
These amounts are estimates built from publicly available prices: average accommodation prices for the month and typical daily spending on food, public transport and attractions. For months where we found no data, we filled in our own estimate. Actual prices depend on your dates and where you stay.
For children up to 12 we assume 60% of an adult's food cost and 50% of an adult's attractions cost. At budget and standard level we price families with children an apartment or family room for up to four people; at luxury level one room takes two adults and one child. These are our assumptions. The luxury level has no upper limit, so we show a “from” amount.
