What a stay in Bari costs
Bari is the capital of Apulia and an Adriatic port, a good base for exploring the region. We estimate a three-star room at about €80–165 a night, depending on the month. Winter is the cheapest season and August the most expensive, and prices rise for the Feast of Saint Nicholas (May 7–9).
An AMTAB single-ride ticket costs €1, a 90-minute ticket €1.20 and a day ticket €2.50. From the airport, take AMTAB bus 16 (€1) or the train to Bari Centrale (€5.30, about 17 minutes); a taxi to the center and the old town has a flat fare of €25.
The Basilica of Saint Nicholas and San Sabino Cathedral are free to enter. The Norman-Swabian Castle costs €10, a tour of the Petruzzelli Theater €5 and the regional train to Polignano a Mare €3.10.
How we estimate
These amounts are our estimates. Ticket, public transport, airport transfer and attraction prices come from the official sites of operators, museums and tourist offices (sources below). Monthly accommodation prices, restaurant meals and daily food spending are our own estimates. Actual prices depend on your dates and where you stay.
For children up to 12 we assume 60% of an adult's food cost and 50% of an adult's attractions cost. At budget and standard level we price families with children an apartment or family room for up to four people; at luxury level one room takes two adults and one child. These are our assumptions. The luxury level has no upper limit, so we show a “from” amount.
