What a stay in Berlin costs
In Berlin, accommodation is the biggest cost, but it is fairly cheap for a Western European capital: according to KAYAK, a room averages about €125 a night in a four-star hotel. November and January are the cheapest months and June the most expensive; prices rise sharply during the Berlinale and the marathon.
A single AB ticket costs €4, a 4-trip ticket €12.40 and a 24-hour ticket €11.20. From BER airport, the S-Bahn or FEX train costs €5 on an ABC ticket; the city puts a taxi to the center at about €58–63.
Many of the main sights are free: the Brandenburg Gate, the East Side Gallery and the Reichstag dome (with online registration). A Museum Island day ticket costs €24 and the TV Tower viewing platform from €20.
How we estimate
These amounts are estimates built from publicly available prices: average accommodation prices for the month and typical daily spending on food, public transport and attractions. For months where we found no data, we filled in our own estimate. Actual prices depend on your dates and where you stay.
For children up to 12 we assume 60% of an adult's food cost and 50% of an adult's attractions cost. At budget and standard level we price families with children an apartment or family room for up to four people; at luxury level one room takes two adults and one child. These are our assumptions. The luxury level has no upper limit, so we show a “from” amount.
