Budget level

What a stay in Dublin costs

In Dublin, accommodation is the biggest cost. According to KAYAK, a room averages about €140 a night in a four-star hotel and about €560 in a five-star. January and February are the cheapest months and August the most expensive; prices rise sharply during the St. Patrick's Festival.

A Leap card fare is €2 for 90 minutes, and a 7-day Leap Visitor Card costs €24. From the airport, the Dublin Express bus costs from €9 online; according to the airport, a taxi is about €30–45.

The biggest attraction costs are the Guinness Storehouse (from €24), the Book of Kells at Trinity College (from €25) and Kilmainham Gaol (€8). The National Museum of Ireland is free.

How we estimate

These amounts are estimates built from publicly available prices: average accommodation prices for the month and typical daily spending on food, public transport and attractions. For months where we found no data, we filled in our own estimate. Actual prices depend on your dates and where you stay.

For children up to 12 we assume 60% of an adult's food cost and 50% of an adult's attractions cost. At budget and standard level we price families with children an apartment or family room for up to four people; at luxury level one room takes two adults and one child. These are our assumptions. The luxury level has no upper limit, so we show a “from” amount.
