What a stay in Monaco costs
Monaco has the most expensive hotels on the French Riviera. According to KAYAK, a room averages about €470 a night in a four-star hotel and about €870 in a five-star. February is the cheapest month and June, during the Grand Prix, the most expensive. Many visitors stay in Nice or Beausoleil and come for the day.
The Principality is walkable, and a CAM bus ride costs €1.50 by card (no more than €5.50 a day). From Nice, the cheapest way is the Zou! bus 600 for €2.20, and from the airport a single Ticket Azur for €2.50 (tram plus bus 600); the TER train (from €6.10) is faster. From the airport, the Zou! bus 80 costs €21.40 and a taxi about €95.
The biggest attraction costs are the Oceanographic Museum (€20.50), a Casino de Monte-Carlo visit (€20), the Prince's Car Collection (€15) and the Prince's Palace (€13, open only from March 30 to October 15). A combined Palace and Car Collection ticket costs €25. The Exotic Garden costs €12. The changing of the guard, Port Hercule and Larvotto beach are free.
How we estimate
These amounts are estimates built from publicly available prices: average accommodation prices for the month and typical daily spending on food, public transport and attractions. For months where we found no data, we filled in our own estimate. Actual prices depend on your dates and where you stay.
For children up to 12 we assume 60% of an adult's food cost and 50% of an adult's attractions cost. At budget and standard level we price families with children an apartment or family room for up to four people; at luxury level one room takes two adults and one child. These are our assumptions. The luxury level has no upper limit, so we show a “from” amount.
