What a stay in Singapore costs
Hotels in Singapore are expensive, but food can be cheap if you eat at hawker centers. We estimate a mid-range hotel room at about SGD 230–300 a night, depending on the month; the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend is the most expensive time.
An MRT or bus ride costs SGD 1.28–2.57, depending on distance; you pay by tapping a contactless card at the gate. From Changi Airport, the MRT takes you to the center for about SGD 2.30; a taxi usually costs SGD 25–45 plus an airport surcharge of SGD 6–8.
A plate of chicken rice at a hawker center costs SGD 4.23 on average. Supertree Grove and the Spectra show are free; the Gardens by the Bay domes cost visitors SGD 46, the SkyPark deck SGD 35 and the zoo SGD 49.
How we estimate
These amounts are our estimates. Ticket, public transport, airport transfer and attraction prices come from the official sites of operators, museums and tourist offices (sources below). Monthly accommodation prices, restaurant meals and daily food spending are our own estimates. Actual prices depend on your dates and where you stay.
For children up to 12 we assume 60% of an adult's food cost and 50% of an adult's attractions cost. At budget and standard level we price families with children an apartment or family room for up to four people; at luxury level one room takes two adults and one child. These are our assumptions. The luxury level has no upper limit, so we show a “from” amount.
