What a stay in Warsaw costs
Warsaw is cheaper than most western capitals. According to KAYAK, a room averages about 580 zł a night in a four-star hotel and about 820 zł in a five-star. January is the cheapest month and September the most expensive.
The metro, trams and buses are the easiest way around. A 75-minute ticket costs 4.40 zł, a 24-hour ticket 15 zł and a 3-day ticket 36 zł, which also covers the trip to Chopin Airport.
There is plenty to see for free: on Thursdays the Warsaw Rising Museum and POLIN are free, and on Wednesdays a selected route in the Royal Castle. The biggest attraction costs are the Royal Castle (60 zł), the Copernicus Science Centre (48–50 zł) and POLIN (45 zł).
How we estimate
These amounts are estimates built from publicly available prices: average accommodation prices for the month and typical daily spending on food, public transport and attractions. For months where we found no data, we filled in our own estimate. Actual prices depend on your dates and where you stay.
For children up to 12 we assume 60% of an adult's food cost and 50% of an adult's attractions cost. At budget and standard level we price families with children an apartment or family room for up to four people; at luxury level one room takes two adults and one child. These are our assumptions. The luxury level has no upper limit, so we show a “from” amount.
