Peak, shoulder and off-season

Peak season is July and August, the most expensive time. In Cannes, May and June are expensive too, because of the film festival and large conventions.

Shoulder season is May, June, September and October. It is a sensible compromise: prices are below peak season, and the weather still suits the beach and sightseeing.

The off-season runs from November to March and is the cheapest. Hotels in Nice and Cannes stay open all year, but in Saint-Tropez many hotels, restaurants and beach clubs close in the off-season, so a low price there does not mean the full offer.

Not only accommodation

Transport and museum prices are the same all year. The Pass Sud Azur Explore for trains, trams and buses from Cannes to Menton costs €35 for 3 days or €50 for 7 days.

Public beaches are free. A beach-club sunbed costs from about €20 in Cannes to €75–85 on Pampelonne beach near Saint-Tropez.
